Job Title: Next Generation Pastor

 to: Senior Pastor

 

Position Summary:

The Point Church in Pensacola, Florida is prayerfully searching to fill the role of Next Generation Pastor. He will play a vital role in the spiritual growth and development of The Point’s youth, leading ministry initiatives for teenagers and their families with Christ-centered passion and integrity. He will be dedicated to fostering a biblically grounded, Spirit-filled environment that promotes discipleship, community, and service at both the Perdido Key and Jackson campuses. The Next Generation Pastor will equip students and their families with tools to build and share their faith, while also aligning closely with the broader mission of our church.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Preach and Teach Biblically Sound Doctrine: Deliver expository, engaging messages to youth that are biblically rooted and clearly applied to their lives.

2. Spiritual Leadership: Maintain high moral character, filled with the Holy Spirit, reflecting Christ in all areas of life, both personally and professionally. Model self-control, discipline, and integrity, especially in one’s family life.

3. Youth and Family Ministry: Lead programs focused on spiritual growth, outreach, and community-building for youth and their families. Partner with parents to help them be the primary disciple-makers of their students.

4. Proactive Outreach: Take the initiative to connect with youth and their families throughout our area, whether that’s through involvement in the schools, extra-curricular activities, or community happenings. 

5. Team Collaboration and Leadership: Serve as a collaborative member of the pastoral team, bringing a team-oriented approach. Lead, mentor, and develop other adult and student leaders within the youth ministry, fostering a spirit of unity and growth.

6. Pastoral Care: Exhibit a shepherd’s heart, providing compassionate care and guidance to youth and families. Be proactive in meeting needs within the church, ministering with a servant’s heart and a strong work ethic.

7. Organizational and Administrative Excellence: Plan and organize youth events, studies, and outreach programs with an eye for detail and thoughtfulness. Maintain an organized and conscientious approach to managing ministry responsibilities.

8. Personal Growth and Development: Be a lifelong learner, staying updated on ministry trends, culturally relevant topics, and innovative approaches to Next Gen ministry. Exhibit humility, a teachable spirit, and openness to growth, demonstrating a heart that’s coachable.

 

Qualifications:

- Education: Degree from an accredited seminary or Christian college.

- Experience: Proven experience working in a Southern Baptist church is preferred, with experience on a pastoral team being a plus.

- Theological Alignment: Theologically conservative and aligned with the church’s core beliefs. Affirming of the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.

- Cultural Awareness: A grasp on ministry trends and cultural awareness to connect effectively with today’s youth.

  • Deep love for Jesus, the church, and a passion for ministry.
  • Spiritually mature and biblically grounded with an expository preaching style.
  • It is strongly preferred that the candidate be married.
  • Demonstrates a servant’s heart and a strong work ethic.
  • Self-controlled, disciplined, organized, and thoughtful in all aspects of ministry.
  • Compassionate, relational, and dedicated to fostering a caring community.
