Job Title: Church Planting Resident

Location: The River Church at Valley Brook, Decatur GA (Atlanta Metro Area)

Program Length: 1 Year (Part-Time)

Compensation: $20,000

Overview:

The River Church is uniquely positioned between Clarkston, GA—known as the most diverse square mile in North America—and the City of Decatur, a vibrant, urban community filled with young professionals yet lacking a strong presence of gospel-proclaiming churches. The River Church is seeking passionate, emerging ministry leaders for our Church Planting Residency. This immersive one-year program is designed to develop both spiritual disciplines and practical ministry skills, preparing participants to launch and lead new church plants or church re-plants. Through mentorship, hands-on ministry experiences, and targeted training, residents will grow in their faith and leadership capabilities in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Engage in a structured residency that blends spiritual formation with real-world ministry experience.
• Participate in mentorship, hands-on ministry assignments, and strategic planning sessions.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive church planting plan during the residency.
• Serve in various ministry roles including preaching, teaching, small group leadership, and outreach.

Qualifications:

• A strong passion for ministry, church planting/replanting, revitalization, and personal spiritual growth.
• Solid foundation in biblical studies and theology (Bible college, seminary training or equivalent experience is preferred).
• Excellent communication skills and a willingness to both learn and lead.
• Ability to commit fully to a one-year, part-time residency program (at least 20 hours/week).
