Elim Baptist Church is searching for a qualified individual to become our next Ministry Assistant. Our current Ministry Assistant is transiitoning to a Financial Secretary role, and we are looking for someone to assume the other responsibilities. This position is part-time.

 

General Description

Under the direction of the pastor, assumes responsibility for organizing, directing, and managing all secretarial, and clerical matters of the church, as well as assisting with ministry and mission events and projects as necessary; is employed and dismissed by the church as recommended by the pastor and personnel committee; and acknowledges Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior.

Qualifications

  1. A personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, an active involvement in a local Christian Church, and lifestyle consistent with biblical teachings.
  2. Office and computer skills
  3. Organizational skills
  4. Works well with others

Responsibilities

  1. Secretarial:
    1. Prepare all correspondence for pastor’s signature.
    2. Receive and distribute mail daily, answer telephone, check e-mail, operate fax and copy machines.
    3. Place any money received in the church office during the week in a sealed envelope and place it in the fire-proof filing cabinet for the counting committee to add to the following Sunday’s deposit.
    4. Prepare weekly church bulletin, calendar of activities.
    5. Order and distribute all church literature, including materials for Minister of Music and department directors.
    6. Maintain office files and keep enough office supplies on hand.
    7. Maintain bulletin board, church staff list, calendar of activities, sign-up sheets, etc.
    8. Coordinate church calendar activities with appropriate leader or committee chairperson.
    9. Search the internet for information as requested by the pastor.
  2. Clerical:
    1. Provide the pastor with a copy of prior church business meeting minutes before the next church business meeting.
    2. Maintain a file of minutes approved by the church in a business meeting; provide the historical committee copies for preparing church history updates.
    3. Maintain accurate church membership record in Power Church Plus, adding or deleting members as approved by the church.
    4. Request church letters from other churches, verify church membership for request for letters, coordinate requests through the church clerk.
    5. Provide a membership telephone directory of name, address, and telephone number to the pastor and any committee that needs it.
    6. In the event of a church member’s death, purchase Bibles through the Gideon’s in the name of the church, in memory of the deceased.
  3. Assistive:
    1. Purchasing supplies for Wednesday evening meals (i.e. food, propane, etc.), janitorial supplies (i.e. trash bags, Clorox wipes, toilet cleaner, etc.), kitchen supplies (i.e. plates, cups, napkins, etc.).
    2. Prepare information packets for Monday evening visitation.
    3. Various tasks in support of ministry and missions’ events and projects (i.e. Christmas backpacks, family retreats, etc.).
  4. Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
