Children's & Preschool Pastor/Ministry Director

Bethany Baptist Church has served McDonough & Henry County, Georgia (A suburb just south of Atlanta) for the past 165 years.  Our church has a heritage of reaching out to our community and has seen times of great growth; yet we remain a church that feels like home.  After our pastor of 32 years retired 3 years ago, about a year ago we have called a new pastor to lead us into the next season of ministry.  We are looking to build on the strong gospel foundations of our church to reach a new generation as our county is continuing to see explosive growth.

Our church currently averages between 300-350 in Sunday morning worship.  We are home to a Weekday Preschool with enrollment of 120 students.  Our Children and Preschool ministry has been growing this past year.  We are looking to grow our church and develop our Children & Preschool ministries while reaching the community with the Hope of the Gospel.  We have a great facility with a Worship Center that seats over 600 and is in the process of an update, a gym, a large youth area, and a ballfield.  We are well positioned on the corner of a major highway and poised to be a lighthouse to our growing community.

We are seeking the right person to join our team who will:

• Be a team player, willing to work with the other ministries of the church, and help our Children’s Ministry be connected with the church body as a whole.
• Lead our Preschool & Children’s ministries (Birth-5th Grade) and help give church oversight to our Weekday Preschool Ministry (led by Weekday Preschool Director).
• Help define our Discipleship Pathway and develop a Preschool & Children’s Ministry that encourages kids to live their lives as multiplying disciples.
• Teach and model to our children and volunteers a reliance on the truth of God’s Word and trusting God’s faithfulness.
• Work with volunteers to promote environments on Sundays (Sunday School & Kid’s Church) and Wednesdays (RAs & GAs) that are engaging to children and work to grow them toward becoming multiplying disciples of Jesus.
• Facilitate trainings & provide encouragement for parents to lead in their homes in a way that exalts Jesus above all else and is based on God’s Word.
• Plan special events with emphases on fun & fellowship, spiritual growth, and evangelistic outreach to our community.
• Recruit and engage adults as leaders to serve in the Preschool & Children’s Ministries.
• Join our current church leadership in working to equip our church to reach our community with the hope of the Gospel.

Job Qualifications:

• The candidate should be motivated by a love of Christ to work heartily as unto the Lord in all things, not requiring a great deal of supervision, and have a determination to strive for excellence.
• A love for children and a desire to see them come to faith in Christ and grow in their love and faith in Him.
• The candidate (though not required to be a man for this position) must live in accordance with biblical guidelines for those in spiritual leadership as described in both 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9.
• Ability to coordinate and lead adult volunteers to fulfill the purpose of the ministry programs.
• Be in full agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message, 2000.
• The candidate should have good written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor's and/or seminary degree preferred.
• Experience as a staff member in a ministry leadership capacity is strongly preferred.
