Part Time Golden Unicorn
In search of a part time golden unicorn. That special someone who can lead our church before the throne of God through musical worship. Who can organize our musicians, recruit more singers, form a band, create a praise team, lead a choir, run soundboard and computer all from the stage while singing on a Sunday morning.
Okay, that’s a bit much. So here’s the deal:
- We are a typical Southern Baptist church. We run about 150 on a Sunday morning. Half of our congregation is over the age of 60, but we have a number of active younger families involved at all levels of service and leadership.
- For music, we have a pianist, organist, keys, percussion, bass, trumpet, and clarinet. All of our musicians are very talented, and we are not worthy of their wonderful gifts.
- We sing traditional hymns as well as songs from the past 5 years. Whatever the song choice may be, we believe songs should be biblical, singable, and meaningful.
- We have a choir, which used to be very active, but currently does about a song a month. Our golden unicorn would need to determine choir involvement and recruitment. A choir is a worthy ministry, but only if you have people to fill the role. Could be used as a praise choir.
- We have unused singers within our church, who could lead on a praise team with a little guidance and leadership.
- We have a sound tech and a computer guru. We would like for our unicorn to be knowledgeable about these things and help set them up for Sunday, but would not be required to run them (from the stage).
Aside from this, we have active and growing children and youth ministries, a food pantry and feeds our community every month, connections with our local elementary and middle schools, active women and men's ministries.
Our pastor has been at the church for two years. He is married with six children. He preaches biblical sermons and enjoys self-deprecating humor. Along with the musical qualifications, he is seeking someone who wants to be a part of a team that will work together to make the church great and reach the community with the gospel.
If you are a simple unicorn, no need to apply. But if you are that rare (part time) golden unicorn who loves the church for the glory of God, then we would love the opportunity to talk.

Vision of Winterville First Baptist Church
For every person in Winterville and the surrounding communities to have the opportunity to believe the gospel, to grow in faith in the gospel, and go to others with the gospel.
Ministry Summary:
The Worship Pastor plays a vital role in the life of the church. Not only does he lead music on Sunday mornings, he also joins the rest of the pastoral staff in ministering to the individual needs of the congregation, and helping the church fulfill its vision. Each pastor and minister has their own areas of service, but we work together, helping one another in strengthening the congregation and reaching our community for Christ.
The Worship Pastor is directly responsible to the Lead Pastor for leading the church in corporate worship. We enjoy both traditional and modern music in worship. We believe songs should be biblical, singable, and meaningful.
Being ten minutes from UGA, there are opportunities for outreach, and connecting with college students through the music ministry. We have active youth and children’s ministries with plenty of opportunity to develop future musicians.
