Job Description for the Pastor to Children, Kingsland First Baptist Church

We are an active, large church with a vibrant Children’s Ministry looking to add a full-time Pastor to Children to our current staff.  The Pastor to Children will be a man called by God and set apart to the gospel ministry, and committed to living and serving in a manner consistent with the standards set forth in Scripture for a Pastor/Elder. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and preaching, a love for children and families, and provide servant leadership and vision to all aspects of the Children’s ministry.  

Qualifications and Responsibilities

  • Called by God and set apart for the gospel ministry 
  • Evangelical in theology
  • Have a ministry degree or currently pursuing
  • Experience working with children
  • Demonstrates servant leadership
  • Be able to effectively present the gospel, counsel children and families with salvation decisions and perform baptisms
  • Possess excellent communication skills
  • Ability to create, promote and execute ministry plans for children and their families
  • Possess ability to build meaningful relationships that result in spiritual growth and church unity
  • Strong conflict-resolution skills 
  • Ability to manage ministry budget
  • Positive and energetic demeanor 
  • Ability to recruit, train, schedule and lead volunteer teams
  • Oversee all programming and ministry for children birth-5th grade including Sunday mornings, Sunday evenings, Wednesday evenings, summer programming, special events
  • Choose and prepare curriculum for each age group and program
  • Maintain a strategy for reaching and assimilating new children and families
  • Preach and lead the congregation as requested by Senior Pastor
  • Provide pastoral care as needed, visitation, contacts, counseling etc

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

This position requires a certain energy-level and excitement for teaching and engaging children. Physically, it requires the ability to stand for long periods, walk around our campus including climbing stairs easily.  Will need a degree of agility to engage in children’s activities and games that may require crawling, jumping, jogging, etc. A willingness to invest time in families that may include working irregular hours at times, being engaged in the community, and  participating in local events. Travel may be required for training, conferences, camps, mission trips etc.
